Jessica Alba is all about creating a healthier lifestyle for her own family, and now she's found a way to share the tips and tricks she's learned with the rest of the world.
The 30-year-old actress and mother reveals to People that she'll be releasing a how-to book called The Honest Life based on what the magazine calls "her mission of creating a natural, non-toxic life for her family."
And the similarities between the title of her debut book and her newly launched venture, The Honest Company, are entirely intentional. In addition to offering tips on how to create a safe and healthy home, the book will offer personal anecdotes about her own life as a mother, wife and businesswoman.
"It's totally crazy but amazing," Alba tells People of the book, which she cowrote with business partner Christopher Gavigan. "I'm not extreme. This book is for people who are in the middle but want to create a healthier life, like me."
The actress will include personal details, like the recipe for her 3-year-old daughter Honor's favorite meatballs. She'll also explain how she makes food for her children -- Honor and Haven, 7 months -- even healthier by secretly adding flax seeds, and will include some "homemade" beauty tips.
According to Alba, the key to having a non-toxic home is to make sure everything in it is filled with pure materials, and she offers up some inexpensive options to make the transition. She suggests some fun DIY family projects, like refinishing furniture for a room.
"It will be easy and fun and I want it to be really colorful," says Alba. "I'm a crazy foodie. I love doing projects with my kids. Everything in this book will be something meaningful that I've incorporated into our lives. I wanted some kind of handbook with all the information I was consuming so I could apply it in a practical way."
The Honest Life will be published in early 2013.
