Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson first became involved with Operation Smile, a medical group that provides free reconstructive surgery for impoverished children born with facial deformities, in 2003 as their first International Youth Ambassador. The pop star witnessed the miracles the organization performs firsthand when she traveled to Kenya in 2005 and watched an operation to repair a cleft palate on an 18-month-old girl. During her stint as iVillage Guest Editor, Simpson opened up about her experience with the organization and told iVillage that, growing up, her parents taught her the importance of giving back. "My life lessons that I had growing up came from my parents being in the ministry," she said.
