As Jessica Simpson's due date approaches, allow me to point out the blaringly obvious: The Texas bombshell is huge. Like, pulling-a-deuce, topping-two-hundy, how-does-she-waddle-in-those-heels huge. Although the "Fashion Star" host told USA Today she "couldn’t wait" to pose nude for this month's ELLE cover in her reported 170-pound glory, more recent pictures look as if she's packed another couple dozen pounds onto her formerly petite frame.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
As someone who gained a hefty half-ton with each pregnancy, I know what it feels -- and looks -- like to nearly outweigh your burly husband at the end. Odds are Jess isn't tipping the scales at anywhere near a buck-seventy, unless she's being weighed on a faraway planet with an entirely different gravitational force.
I love that she's not succumbing to the Hollywood stay-skinny-at-all costs pressure. I applaud her for being out-and-about and flaunting her very large self. I love quotes like this one from the USA Today piece: "Normally, I'm so shy. I'm not the person you see photographed in a bikini on a beach. But for some reason, being pregnant, it's so easy for me. I feel so comfortable in my skin." Even if the ELLE cover has been a bit, ahem, air-brushed, we love that she's celebrating her incredibly round and fertile body.
