Prego Jess Simpson finally popped! The buxom blonde supernova welcomed a little baby girl named Maxwell Drew today, and reports are that mom and baby are healthy and well. The next question fans want to know: How on earth is she going to drop that baby weight?
We've watched Daisy Duke expand to enormous pregnancy proportions and it's made some us (like me) feel better about our own unholy pregnancy weight gain and others feel smug about not putting on a ton.
Anyway, she'll get a pass for the first big drop. First off, baby Maxwell weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds, 13 ounces, according to People. The placenta weighs another pound (yes, you deliver that, too) and then most women lose 2 pounds in amniotic fluid, 4 pounds in "other fluids" (best not to ask), 4 pounds in blood volume and another 2 in uterine shrinkage, according to doctors. That's over twenty pounds right there! Which only leaves Jess with another 70 left to lose.
I'm kidding! Really. (Although the gal did get pretty big there at the end.)
Rumor has it that Jessica is going to have some help shedding the baby weight, thanks to a $3 million endorsement deal from Weight Watchers. That kind of cash can buy a lot of personal training sessions. It also can buy a lot of buttered Pop Tarts and mac-n-cheese, so she's going to have to stay strong.
Regardless of how much Jess actually gained, how she plans to lose it or how much richer she gets in the process, I hope she didn't foolishly pack her pre-prego skinny jeans in her hospital bag like I did. Oh yes, they wheeled me out of that place in the same damned maternity jogging suit (the irony! never has an item of clothing been less-exercised in!) that I wore in. And without a personal trainer in my own arsenal, it was several months before I could retire them for good.
