Jessica Simpson's baby arrived yesterday (finally!), and, as we already knew, it's a girl. Simpson wasn't afraid to share during her pregnancy: From telling Jimmy Kimmel that her water breaking would be like a fire hydrant to dishing about her crazy pregnancy sex drive to planning to deliver her baby in high heels and a leopard caftan, the Fashion Star mentor was definitely open. She even hinted about her baby name choice in Elle: "It's nothing shocking and nothing you'll have to add to the dictionary."
What is surprising: Jess and fiance Eric Johnson gave their little gal a boy's name: Maxwell Drew Johnson.
Maxwell is nowhere to be found on the Social Security Administration's list of top 1000 female baby names. Still, we love that both first and middle names have a family connection. Maxwell is Eric's middle name as well as his grandmother's maiden name, according to Celebrity Baby Scoop, and Drew is Jessica's mom's maiden name. The nickname potential is promising, too: They can stick with the manly theme (Drew comes from Andrew which means "manly") and call her Max or Drew, or go super-girly with Maxi, the nickname that leaked out over a month ago.
Either way, we think it's pretty adorable. But are we the only ones who think it's funny that Jessica -- who told Elle that she'll pretty much freak if her daughter prefers Nikes to Louboutins -- gave her girl a total tomboy name? Guess she's full of surprises after all.
