Now that Beyonce is no longer pregnant, all the baby-bump conspiracies have a new target: Jessica Simpson! The Fashion Star mentor, who announced her pregnancy last Halloween, has been looking very pregnant for a very long time -- so long, in fact, that gossip hounds are wondering if she secretly gave birth, and is now faking still being pregnant. Why on Earth would she do that, you ask? Let Wendy Williams explain it to you in the below video from The Wendy Williams Show!
According to the conspiracy theory, Simpson, 31, has been faking her pregnancy for weeks, and is going to keep on doing it "until she gets a big magazine deal." Wendy Williams didn't come up with this idea, which has been floating around the Internet, but she does seem pretty convinced. We, however, are not. Let's debunk this thing point-by-point, shall we?
Conspiracy theory No. 1: Jessica Simpson has been pregnant for way too long.
Simpson announced her pregnancy in October, and we don't know how far along she was. Because of weight gain, some outlets speculated that she was as far as six months -- but as she's admitted, Simpson has a body type that gains weight easily, so that may not be a good barometer. We can safely assume that she had cleared the first trimester, since that's when doctors usually give the okay to reveal the pregnancy. And if Jessica was three months along at the end of October, that would put her around nine months now, which seems exactly right. Plus, given that it's her first pregnancy, there's a good chance that the baby could come after her due date.
Conspiracy theory No. 2: No pregnant woman could put her foot up on the dashboard of an SUV.
Wendy Williams' "smoking gun" is a photo where Simpson's foot appears to be propped up on the dashboard of a car. "At nine months pregnant, who can put her feet on the dashboard of a damn SUV?" Williams, 41, says, sending a volunteer with a fake baby bump into an SUV to prove it. Okay, it's a little weird, true -- but when a woman is nine months pregnant, she will contort into any position necessary to be comfortable. If Simpson (who was wearing eight-inch heels last month) needs to ride in a car with her head down and her feet sticking out of the window, who are we to question it?
Conspiracy theory No. 3: She's waiting for a big magazine deal to reveal her baby.
Really? Her publicist couldn't figure this out during the first nine months of pregnancy? Jessica Simpson makes the cover of Star if she eats a hamburger, so we doubt this is even an issue.
Conspiracy theory No. 4: Jessica is padding herself to make her post-baby weight loss more dramatic.
"You know when you want to pretend you lost even more weight than you did by padding up, you take off pads slowly but surely, then you start losing the weight?" asks Wendy Williams. Um, actually, no -- that seems totally crazy. Why would any celebrity in this thin-obsessed culture want to make themselves look like they gained more weight? And Williams' "proof" -- that Jessica Simpson has gained weight in her body but not her face -- is silly and untrue. Check out the clip below of Simpson on Ellen last month, and you'll see that her face has definitely changed along with her body. (And even if it hadn't, every woman gains pregnancy weight differently! Sheesh.)
While Jessica Simpson hasn't presented any "evidence" that she's still pregnant (what would that be, a doctor's note?), she did assure her fans via Twitter that the baby had not yet arrived.
"To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl...I'm still pregnant!!" Simpson tweeted earlier this week. "Don't believe what you read ladies and gents."
