Now that Jessica Simpson has introduced baby Maxwell to the world, her next order of business is dropping all that baby weight. On the same day that Simpson unveiled the first photo of her newborn daughter on the cover of People, she has also announced that she has officially joined Weight Watchers to help lose the pregnancy pounds.
For her 1000th tweet, Simpson shared her enthusiasm for her new venture. "So excited to be a part of the @WeightWatchers family!" she said.
Weight Watchers also seems excited to have her, as their team wrote a post on their community page welcoming the 31-year-old pop star -- who had long been rumored as their new spokeswoman -- to the fold.
"We're thrilled that Jessica Simpson has chosen to join Weight Watchers to adopt a healthier lifestyle and inspire others to do the same. Her talent, resilience and positive outlook already make her a great role model, and by deciding to trade in yo-yo dieting for a healthier lifestyle, we know she will inspire many women to join her," the Weight Watchers statement reads. "From the point when we started speaking with Jessica before she became pregnant, to now when she's had baby Maxwell, Jessica has made clear her commitment to establishing a healthier lifestyle for herself and her family."
Though Simpson often joked about her weight gain, there's no denying that she put on quite a few pounds during her pregnancy. That's fine and normal, but even she admitted that now it is time to hunker down and lose weight. According to sources close to her, Simpson will have to lose 40 to 60 pounds to be within Weight Watchers' weight-loss goal range. The good news? That's about the same poundage Beyonce has lost since giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy four months ago!
