Jessica Simpson knows the value of shoes.
The 29-year-old singer and footwear designer hopes to help victims of Haiti's earthquake by organizing a shoe drive. Working with the Nashville-based charity Soles4Souls, she appears with her hairstylist and friend Ken Paves on a video clip on the organization’s website. "Let’s all give everything we can for the tragedy in Haiti," she implores. The charity’s goal is to collect enough money in 50 days to buy 50,000 pairs of footwear.
Simpson’s campaign seems to be working. Soles4Souls has already amassed 18,744 pairs. Five dollars will provide two pairs of shoes, and the footwear will be sent directly to Haitians in need.
