This is the time where we all go back to feeling sorry for Jessica Simpson.
Since being dumped by boyfriend Tony Romo last week, sources say that Jessica is just an emotional mess. "Jessica was really blindsided," a friend of the singer told People.com. "She's sad, mad, and confused. Her emotions are all over the place."
Luckily the Simpson clan is rallying around Jess. "She is holding up okay. She is with her family. They are - as always - very supportive of her."
As for what went down between Jess and Tony, it seems that the pressure of the double-celeb couple just got to them.
"Dating her comes along with her celebrity and press - that's not easy for anyone," said the insider. "But she and Tony seemingly had it figured out. They rolled with the punches and focused on each other. They just lost sight of that at the end."
Not if Papa Joe and Co. have anything to say about it.
"It won't happen," a source blabbed. "They have no respect for him. Jessica has no respect for him. There is way too much bad blood between Nick and Joe for Jessica to even think about it."
More likely, the Simpsons are holding out for a Jess/Tony reunion.
"Everyone really liked him. He wanted this perfect mold of the perfect football girlfriend. People don't realize that Jessica has been worn down by Hollywood. She has insecurities and inner demons that she struggles with. She's not some upbeat blond cheerleader that people want her to be."
As Jessica tries to move on from her latest heartache (it's such a sucky, familiar cycle for this chick, no?) friends are convinced that she'll make it.
"She's gone through heartache before. She wants someone who is on the same page that she is. If she has to move on for that, she will."
I think Jennifer Aniston and Jessica should create a spread sheet of all the men in Hollywood --complete with pros and cons. Maybe they can help each other find someone with staying power.
