It's official: Jessica Simpson is having a girl! Also official? As evidenced by the April cover of Elle magazine, she looks good naked, even when 7 months pregnant. And although the 31-year-old pop star wasn't completely at peace with stripping down for the nude photo shoot, she's glad she did it.
"My Elle cover comes out today!! I'm a lil nervous but I've never felt more beautiful or empowered," she tweeted on Wednesday. "I hope you like it!!!"
We do indeed, and the interview inside the magazine -- in which Simpson tells Elle that her little sweetheart had better share mama's penchant for fashion -- is pretty entertaining as well.
"I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!" Simpson says of the baby she's expecting this spring with her NFL-player fiance Eric Johnson. "Eric is so athletic -- we're gonna have this athletic girl and I won't even be able to take her shopping, 'cause all she's gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!"
At least the littlest Simpson-Johnson (or whatever the couple decides to do with their last names once they tie the knot) will have her pick of her mom's billion-dollar fashion line.
Speaking of which, Simpson has certainly got her hands full these days -- both figuratively and literally, judging by that Elle cover. In addition to her fashion line and prepping for the arrival of her first baby with her NFL player fiance, her new reality competition show Fashion Star debuts March 13 (9:30 p.m. ET) on NBC.
Even so, Simpson is way ahead of the curve in the baby prep, at least in one respect: She's already picked out her little gal's name! While she's keeping mum on what that moniker is, she does reveal that it's "nontraditional."
"It's nothing shocking and nothing you'll have to add to the dictionary," she says. "Still, when people hear it, they'll know... why."
Just like Simpson knew almost immediately when she was pregnant.
"We were going to have an all-day drinking binge," Simpson explains. "Gonna ride our bikes, hang out... do naughty things. But I started feeling this overwhelming guilt. Why would I feel guilt at the idea of going out and having cocktails with my friends?" Sounds like a little guilt can be a good thing sometimes!
