Jillian Michaels' journey to motherhood is nearly complete. The former Biggest Loser star announced on Access Hollywood that after more than a year of waiting, she has finally "been matched with a little girl" to adopt.
The renowned fitness trainer first revealed she was planning to adopt in 2010, and now the 37-year-old is ready to take on her new role as a mother.
"I went over to visit orphanages [in Haiti] and I ended up falling in love with this little girl, and by the grace of God, I got matched up with her," she told Access Hollywood on Friday. "So now, it' just a matter of trying to get her home an anything can happen and fall through or fall apart, so it's kind of premature for me to say it, but that's where its at."
Michaels told Us Weekly last May that adoption is a "waiting game," because she had finished the necessary paperwork but wasn't sure when she would be granted the referral for a baby.
"It could be six months, twelve months; it could be two years. Or, it could be tomorrow! They call you and they say, 'Oh, we have your referral,' which is essentially the child they match you up with, and you go overseas and you get him or her," she explained.
At this point, if things fall through with the baby girl from Haiti, Michaels admits to Access Hollywood that she'll be distraught: "You'll know why I'm devastated and not coming out of my house for months," she said.
Congratulations to Michaels, and may she get her baby girl home with her soon.
