Joaquin Phoenix's Nasty Interview

Maybe Joaquin Phoenix was just having a bad day but, in a recent phone interview, he was less than cordial with a reporter. Page Six says that Joaquin, who stars in the new movie, We Own the Night, actually hung up on Time Out New York's Laura Leu during their interview. When Leu asked the actor how he had prepared for his role as a drug-addicted nightclub manager, he said, "I never prepare. I think that's completely overrated. It's a very simple job. All you have to do is . . . stand in the right spot and say the line. So I don't really believe in preparation." Leu then pressed on, "But you prepared for Ladder 49 by training with a fire academy," she said. "I just said that because I thought it would sound good to the press. I don't know why it seems to be of note that actors do any kind of preparation. It's just what you're supposed to do in your [bleep]ing job. Do you think that because you did some research you deserve some special credit?" Joaquin barked.

Then he hung up on her! It wasn't even like she asked anything inappropriate -- she was just doing her job. Hey, Joaquin! Don't want to answer routine questions about movie roles? Don't make movies.
