Love was in the air on Saturday, as actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt tied the knot in Italy -- while halfway across the globe, singer Carrie Underwood married hockey player Mike Fisher in Greensboro, Georgia. Both celebrity couples had the lavish wedding of their dreams, and yet, the two ceremonies sound as different as night and day. Let's compare the two weddings, shall we?
The Vibe
Krasinski described his wedding proposal as "very casual", and his ceremony followed suit: he and Blunt opted for an afternoon wedding at an Italian villa in the lakeside town of Como. "It was an outdoor ceremony and absolutely beautiful," an attendee told US Magazine. Underwood and Fisher went a more formal route, holding their wedding at a lavish hotel on a Southern plantation. 250 guests were invited to the evening ceremony, which incorporated classical music and Bible readings.
The Dress
Underwood, 27, gave Scarlett O'Hara some competition with a Monique Lhuillier chantilly lace gown -- see examples of the designer's bridal collection here. Blunt, 27, opted for a sleeker look, wearing an embroidered cream chiffon draped gown by Marchesa (see Marchesa's current collection here). Naturally, both gowns were made custom for the bride's big day.
The Famous Guests
Krasinski, 30, invited his Leatherheads co-star George Clooney and girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis; word has it that the newlyweds were staying at Clooney's Italian estate while they prepared for the wedding. Underwood and Fisher's guests included country royalty Faith Hill and Tim McGraw (and we'd imagine, given Fisher's profession, a few NHL players).
One thing's for sure: we would have given our right arm to be a guest at either wedding. (Though if we had to choose, George Clooney may have been the deciding factor.) Congratulations to both happy couples!
