John Lithgow on 'Dexter'

The bathtub murder scene in the season 4 finale of Showtime's Dexter earns John Lithgow our award for 2009's creepiest TV killer. As Arthur Mitchell, the Trinity Killer who took lives in threes (the first one always in a bathtub), he slowly suffocates a key character while a jaunty, buoyant song, "Singing in the Bathtub" (recorded in Lithgow's voice) underscores the gruesome action. As a human being, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is repulsed and horrified. As a killer himself, one wonders if he's slightly awed.
