Johnny Depp recently worked with one of the sexiest, most sought-after women in the world. But the Oscar-nominated actor (who, let's face it, is pretty sexy himself!) insists Angelina Jolie is refreshingly normal, despite her rather abnormal life.
"Meeting her and getting to know her was a real pleasant surprise," Depp says of Jolie. "You don’t know what she might be like -- if she has any sense of humor at all. I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor."
In fact, Depp found her comparable to another one of Hollywood's most celebrated leading ladies:Elizabeth Taylor. "I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years," he says. "You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. Angie’s got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach."
The actor was even more impressed by how Jolie handles the scrutiny of the spotlight. "Poor thing, dogged by paparazzi, her and her husband, Brad [Pitt]…all their kids," he says. "There are times when you see how ridiculous is this life, how ludicrous it is, you know, leaving your house every morning and being followed by paparazzi."
Despite Depp's gaffe about Jolie and Pitt relationship status (they're not married just yet, Johnny!) he was right on about the paparazzi obsession with their family. In fact, he said the constant hounding from the public made it difficult for them to film scenes in their upcoming action adventure caper.
"(It was difficult) having to hide, sometimes not even being able to talk to each other in public because someone will take a photograph and it will be misconstrued and turned into some other s***," he says.
The Tourist travels into theaters on Dec. 10.
