Reason No. 239 why Johnny Depp is one of the coolest people on the planet: When the man is given an award for being the greatest actor of his generation -- like he was at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards -- he doesn't get up on stage and thank his agent or his 15 reps or even the talented people who make all those fun necklaces he's always wearing. No, instead he gets off with a few modest words of thanks and a quick joke, then picks up a guitar and jams with The Black Keys, proving he's also a damn fine musician. Watch the video below!
At Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, Aerosmith rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry bestowed the Generation Award upon Depp for his "exceptional contributions to the film industry and for entertaining generations of the MTV audience throughout his illustrious career."
Depp humbly thanked MTV for the "amazing honor," joking that it's "like the get-out-of-the-business award -- you've done too much." As if to prove that he can do even more than too much, Depp then joined rock duo The Black Keys (whom he referred to as "up-and-coming legends") for performances of "Gold on the Ceiling" and "Lonely Boy."
In a night filled with some cool moments, it was undeniably the coolest. But then, we'd expect nothing less from Johnny Depp.
