Jon Gosselin Drops Custody Battle

Could estranged reality TV parents Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin be on the mend? After a very public (and at times, quite nasty) divorce, it seems the estranged pair are working to make things better for the welfare of their eight children.

Us Weekly reports that Jon, 33, is dropping his battle to seek full custody of the kids. Kate, 35 -- whose updated version of her old series Jon & Kate Plus 8 (now called simply Kate Plus 8) premieres this Sunday on TLC -- stopped by Today to discuss her relationship with her ex-husband (she confirmed that he rescinded his custody lawsuit) and tell Meredith Vieira why this year is better than 2009.

"Generally speaking, things are good," Kate said of her current relationship with Jon, but went to on say, "He's amicable at this moment, but I never know when things are going to change. It changes often."

While June 12 marks what would have been the couple's 11th wedding anniversary (their divorce was finalized in December 2009), Kate said she's going to make the best of it: "To me, I feel like it's another day in this year of positivity and moving forward. I am going to plunge ahead...and think good thoughts."

Asked if she's moved on in the same way Jon (who's launched a number of brief relationships with new women) has, Kate said, "No, I don't feel like it's time. My kids need so much of me, I need to be there with them. Personally, I don't feel ready to move forward. At some point, I'm sure that I will."

Nevertheless, Kate's optimistic about what's ahead. "2009 was one that I prefer to erase if I could," the Dancing With the Stars castoff admits, but she added, "2010 was the marker for me that it was going to be a better year ... shambles, no more. So far, we're in a good place."
