Quick, look out the window -- do you see any pigs flying? If so, it may be because Jon Gosselin has finally gotten a real job. According to E!, the notorious slacker dad has actually gotten a normal computer-based job, with no reality TV cameras in sight.
"Jon is back at work at a normal job not in media or entertainment," says an anonymous source. "He's working in technology, which he did before the show."
Fans of the show will recall that Jon was actually fired from his original job, because caring for the twins and sextuplets required too much time off from work. That was the moment that the family started relying on television networks and promotions for their entire income ... and the rest, as they say, is history.
In spite of his trainwreck post-divorce year -- not to mention the best efforts of his vindictive ex-Hailey Glassman -- Jon actually seems to be getting his act together. He has a steady girlfriend, Ellen Ross. He didn't grumble to the press, as he had in the past, when Kate took the kids for Thanksgiving. And now he has a real job.
Unfortunately, it seems that whenever one Gosselin parent starts to get their act together, the other starts falling apart. Kate appeared on Today on Wednesday to deny reports that two of her children had been expelled from school. She also denied that TLC was cancelling her current reality show, Kate Plus 8, calling it "a heaven on Earth job." (Okay, maybe for you, Kate -- but what would the kids call it?) And finally, she kept up the backhanded remarks about Jon's parenting that she's been making to the press since September.
At this point, we have to wonder where the kids are on her priority list. Trashing their dad on TV, making them do another round of their reality show -- is this really okay with the kids, who are now old enough to know exactly what's happening? (The twins are 10 and the sextuplets are 6, in case you weren't keeping track.) Reality TV careers have an expiration date, and Kate is fast approaching hers. We say it's time for her to follow her husband's example -- and maybe look into renewing that nursing license.
