The long-awaited Jon Gosselin interview aired last night on ABC’s Primetime: Family Secrets, and the reality star told Chris Cuomo that his love for new girlfriend Hailey Glassman basically makes what he had with ex-wife Kate Gosselin look like a passing crush.
"My heart pounds, I get sweaty—I don't know," Jon said of the plastic surgeon’s daughter. "I feel like I love her more than I did Kate. I get encouragement from her, I get respect from her. Two things that a man needs. This is someone, I mean, like soul mate—like people joke about that. But I'm not joking about that."
Not letting Jon off the hook so easily, Chris proposed that, maybe, Jon is just on the rebound.
"Hailey and I have talked about that," the dad of eight shot back. "I have so much to lose in this situation. I could lose custody, I could lose my kids, I could lose—but I feel like with her that I'm not going to lose them. It's just going to get better."
Chris continued to question Jon about his choices of late – hanging with Michael Lohan, possibly appearing on a new reality show about divorced celeb dads, his relationship with Hailey, who has a drug past – and how that is going to affect his kids.
"What impression do you think people are going to get from that?" the interviewer asked.
"It doesn't matter, if they speak from the heart…" began Jon.
"It matters—if you care about your kids, it matters," Chris interrupted.
"My kids don't know Michael Lohan," Jon tried to joke back.
"They're going to! They're going to know what you do," Chris insisted.
"They know I have a good heart," Jon said of his little ones.
"It's just like the change from America's favorite dad to dirtbag. Tomorrow I could be maybe America's favorite dad again. It could be after this interview. I don't know," he said. "Whatever [the tabloids] want to write, let them write it. They're going to write it anyway. I've learned that lesson."
Did you watch Jon’s interview? Did you it change your mind at all about him or Kate or their situation?
