Thanks to Jordin Sparks, R&B singer Jason Derulo is no longer "Ridin' Solo!" The American Idol winner, 21, had a romantic dinner with Derulo on Sunday night to celebrate his 22nd birthday. That may be the first time anyone noticed their PDA -- but Derulo's repo confirms to Us Weekly that the two singers have been dating since August! And a source claims that Sparks' recent weight loss led directly to her new romance.
According to Us, Sparks and Derulo had been friendly for years before playing a show together in the Bahamas this summer. But now that Sparks has dropped four dress sizes, Derulo suddenly saw her "in a whole new light."
"She lost over 30 pounds and looks amazing -- and he told her," says the insider. "It started there and they have been really reconnecting, now as lovers and not just friends."
Now it's obvious that they adore each other. A witness to their date on Sunday night says the young stars were singing each other's praises -- literally.
"Jordin would sing to him occasionally through the night in his ear if her head was rested on his shoulder," reports the onlooker. "It was Jason's only night in L.A. and the pair were excited to reunite."
Both musicians have a lot going on right now: Derulo just dropped his new album Future History, and Sparks is recording songs for Sparkle, her upcoming movie musical with Whitney Houston. Will they have time for a relationship, too? We'll see -- hopefully there are more love songs yet to come!
