Josh Duhamel's new film, Life As We Know It, shows his character being thrust into fatherhood without any warning. But the actor, who wed singer Fergie in 2009, says that he's comfortable with the idea of having kids in real life -- especially because he's married to right to the woman.
Duhamel even says that the idea of playing a dad in the new film is what initially drew him the role.
"For whatever reason — I don’t know if it is my mom or my dad, but I’ve always had a real fondness for kids," the actor said, adding that he knew playing a dad "would come naturally."
To prepare for his role, the former Las Vegas star spent some extra time with the triplets who starred alongside him. According to the movie's producer Barry Josephson, Duhamel "came in a week early, and would get on the floor with all three of them."
Even Katherine Heigl's husband, Josh Kelley, thinks Duhamel is going to knock it out of the park when it comes to fatherhood.
"Josh is going to be an amazing dad … are you kidding me?” Kelley says. “That guy is going to be an awesome dad. He’s one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met. I love him.”
