Back in August, when Chris Harrison disclosed the name of the next hunk looking for love on The Bachelor, the studio audience (of seemingly hand-picked, swooning women) was unusually vocal.
"I've never heard a reaction like that when I announced the Bachelor," Harrison told Juan Pablo Galavis, as he joined the host to discuss Season 18. Watch it here:
Producers must have taken note of the excited reaction, because they're pulling out all the stops for Galavis' upcoming, televised "journey." Most Bachelors get introduced in the season premiere, but not Galavis.
In a one-hour special entitled The Bachelor: Countdown to Juan Pablo (Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC), viewers will get a detailed look into the life of this Venezuelan pro soccer player, who's also a single dad to a 4-year-old daughter. His season will officially kick off the next night (Monday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. ET). Watch the trailer here.
As fans surely recall, Galavis was a contestant on Desiree Hartsock's season of The Bachelorette. Here's a clip of his first appearance on that show:
The Bachelor premiere will feature 27 women, including a clutch of possible crazies. There will be one who shows up seven-months pregnant. And one who takes her dog everywhere, even on dates. Another rides in on a piano bike, while yet another -- a self-described "flower child" -- arrives barefoot. (How exhausted the producers must be, having to come up with these silly scenarios every year!)
Galavis, of course, will have them all at "hola." Asked about how he'll handle any cat fighting (which tends to arise when you mix one hot guy, two dozen women, and 400 gallons of alcohol), he dismissed the possibility. “I don’t care about their drama, you know, I’m there to meet the women on a one-on-one basis," he said. "Whatever happens in the house I just don’t care."
What's he looking for in a woman? Someone who's "fun," "smart" and "honest." And she must love Latin dancing. "That's one of my biggest turn-ons," he says.

Or just tune in for a season that's sure to be... mucho caliente!
