The sibling rivalry is officially over in this famous family! Actor Eric Roberts, who was estranged for ten years from his sister Julia Roberts, confirms the two are now closer than ever.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, 54-year-old Roberts addresses the allegations that he and Julia had a particular argument which led to their distance. "There was never really a feud," he says. "We're brother and sister and we both have really strong opinions about things, so it's a lot of 'f*** you,' 'no, f*** you' and hanging up the phone."
Roberts says the news of a feud, which was originally brought to light in 2001 by the British newspaper The Independent, was "blown out of proportion." "We stopped talking and then with the birth of the twins we started talking again," he says. (Julia welcomed her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, to the world in November 2004.)
It seems their time apart made Roberts, who is currently taking part in VH1's reality series Celebrity Rehab, grow fonder of his sister. "Now we talk almost every day," he says. "I like her."
Roberts' guy-centric action flick The Expendables opened number one at the box office this weekend, beating out Julia's bigscreen adaptation of the beloved self-discovery travelogue, Eat Pray Love. But the actor says there's no competition when it comes to work.
In fact, Roberts' reveals that his costar Sylvester Stallone asked him what it was like to be up against his sister. "But she's in a chick flick," the actor replied. "I'm in a big action movie. She's a woman, I'm a man. We don't compete for roles. We can't be in competition."
