How's this for cute? Julianne Hough says that her first celebrity crush was none other than her boyfriend of two years, Ryan Seacrest.
"I'm kind of dating my first celebrity crush, so I feel pretty fortunate," Hough told Us Weekly.
Let's take a moment to do some math. The Safe Haven actress is 24, and has been dating Seacrest, 37, since 2010. So when did she first fall for him? It could have been when he started doing American Idol in 2002; Hough would have been 14 at the time, which is a prime age for head-over-heels teen crushes. Then again, it could have started even earlier. In the 1990s, a twenty-something Seacrest was the host of two children's game shows: Gladiators 2000 (see the clip below!) and Click. Maybe young Julianne was tuning in?
Ironically, Hough was almost too intimidated by Seacrest's celebrity to go out with him in the first place.
"I was reluctant because he is such an influential guy, and what if it didn't work out?" she told InStyle for the September issue. "Our first date, I was so nervous that I just sat there and interviewed him with questions like, 'Are you loyal?' and 'Are you close to your family?'"
Obviously, they got past that hurdle. In an interview this summer for Parade, Hough talked about the joys and challenges of dating Seacrest, a fellow workaholic.
"I think at the end of the day you have to find a balance with what's really important," she told the magazine. "I'm so lucky that I have a great relationship. I'm very blessed and I don't take anything for granted. I think if you alienate people and just focus on your work then it just becomes lonely and it's not fun anymore."
And if you're dating the man of your dreams and not having fun? You're clearly doing it wrong!
