How’s this for a bah humbug? At a time when many of us parents are still frantically trying to track down the season’s hottest toys while sticking to a very, very tight budget, Wal-Mart, the biggest of the big box stores, is raising prices on a Santa’s sack–worth of toys.
Wire service Bloomberg reported the news yesterday, after obtaining an internal email from Wal-Mart dated November 30, which directed store managers to quickly mark up prices on roughly 1,800 toys. The famous rollbacks, it appears, are being rolled up. (A company spokesperson told Bloomberg that the raised prices simply reflected a return to an item’s “everyday low price” after temporary discounts ended.)
Depending on what’s on your little one’s wish list, though, there’s still ho-ho-hope for your wallet, as the retailer has announced more upcoming discounts on certain toys.
