Justin Bieber is not off the hook yet. Mariah Yeater, who claims that Bieber fathered her 3-month-old baby, has dropped her paternity suit against the 17-year-old pop star. However, she still believes Biebs is the father and wants him to take a DNA test -- in private.
"We're negotiating with Bieber's counsel, to reach a confidentiality agreement and to get private testing and results," Yeater's new lawyer tells People.
The 20-year-old single mom had the lawsuit dismissed over a week ago, TMZ reports, after Bieber's lawyers threatened to counter-sue her for slander if the paternity test came back negative. Even though she wasn't willing to take that risk, Yeater wants child support for her son and has said that she has physical evidence that Bieber is the father.
"Yes, of course I believe my client's allegations," says her attorney. "I can't comment on whether she has physical evidence or not."
Yeater also might have dropped the suit out of fear if retribution from Justin's fans. The "Baby" singer's famously devoted followers haven't responded kindly to Yeater's paternity claim.
"I just spoke to Mariah today, someone was recently stalking her," her lawyer reveals. "She is happy that she changed her number so she's not getting death threats by phone. She's a young 20-year-old mother who now has to worry about her safety and her child's. It's a lot for any woman that age to handle."
Justin's camp hasn't changed its tune, though; his rep has reiterated the statement that Yeater's story is "malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false." Bieber has denied ever meeting Yeater, although he did agree to a paternity test before her suit was dropped.
Yeater claims that she became pregnant after having unprotected sex with Bieber in a backstage bathroom at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
