February 21 was once known as President's Day, but will now live in infamy as the day Justin Bieber cut his hair. Fortunately, the 16-year-old pop star is putting his famous locks to good use. On Wednesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bieber gave Ellen a very special, very belated and very hairy birthday gift. Watch below!
Back in January, Ellen joked over Twitter that the only thing she wanted for her 53rd birthday was a lock of Justin Bieber's hair. So on Wednesday, Biebs presented her with some of his shorn shag encased in a clear box -- but the gift came with one condition.
"I'm giving pieces of it to different people," Bieber explained to Ellen. "We're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want."
The talk-show host promised to auction off the autographed box of hair and give the proceeds to her favorite animal rescue charity, The Gentle Barn. According to Ellen's Twitter, bidding on the hair was up to $10,000 within the first hour! But it looks like they've since limited the auction to pre-approved buyers (a.k.a. no over-enthusiastic 11-year-olds), since bidding was around $6000 by the end of the day. Go to eBay to check out the auction. We're sure it will be beyond the $10K mark before closing on March 2.
Fans longing to see Bieber sporting his signature shaggy 'do, can catch it on full display in the superstar's documentary Never Say Never, which is currently playing in theaters and will boast a Bieber-tastic 40 minutes of extra footage beginning this Friday!
