Justin Bieber used his tremendous Twitter popularity for good when he supported a fan's plea to promote her campaign to boost organ and blood donations in Ontario, Canada.
According to E! News, the Twitter-friendly singer heeded a fan's call to action last week after she wrote him: "Hey @justinbieber! I BELIEB you should use that Canadian voice of yours and help save lives like mine #beanorgandonor beadonor.ca #giveblood".
The fan, Helene Campbell aka @alungstory, had no idea if Bieber would respond, but he did reply to the young Canadian woman, a lung-transplant survivor. He twittered: "i got the word....you have amazing strength. i got u. #BeAnOrganDonor."
The 17-year-old superstar also addressed Campbell directly: "and @alungstory NEVER SAY NEVER".
After a grateful Campbell thanked Bieber for his support, he responded: "glad to be able to help. best part of what i do."
And Campbell isn't the only one who recognizes the "huge impact" Bieber made. The Ontario-based Trillium Gift of Life Network saw donations soar to 1,200 people, four times the amount the organ and tissue donation network usually receives, MTV reports.
"There are over 1500 people in Ontario waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. On behalf of all them and Trillium Gift of Life Network, thank you Helene and thank you Justin Bieber!" said Ronnie Gavsie, President and CEO of the organization. "Visit www.BeADonor.ca to register or check to be sure you are indeed a registered donor."
