Ho Ho…whoa! Did you catch the video for Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber's "All I Want for Christmas Is You'? The clip of their duet, a remake of Carey's 1994 holiday hit, debuted during NBC's Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony last night. Watch below:
The video mixes scenes of kid-friendly holiday cheer (children laughing, people passing, meeting smile after smile…) with shots of Carey vamping for the camera in a barely there Santa-inspired mini. Bieber, 17, plays the role of a teenager who's shopping at Macy's in New York City with his guy friends. Pushing a shopping cart around a corner, he spots Carey, 41, in her sexy get-up. He seems blown away when he lays eyes on her, and who could blame him? Mimi is showing off her pipes and her post-baby hot bod while she playfully turns around to shake her white-fur-trimmed derriere at the camera.
Viewers are whisked back and forth between this sexy, indoor scene and the snowy one outside, with the laughing children and the ringing bells, etc.
Nothing actually happens between Bieber and this teenage dream of Carey-as-Santa. Considering the age difference between these two, the video director was smart to draw a line at real physical contact. Well, with one exception:
Considering a whole video's worth of his pining and her come-hither looks, this reunion could come across as a little awkward. When did they decide that they'd just be friends? Did Bieber spot Nick Cannon in the crowd and realize he'd better not give in to her advances?
At any rate, Bieber's appearance at the live ceremony featured a much less risque duet: He and Usher sang a heartfelt version of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)." He also sang "Little Drummer Boy" with surprise guest Busta Rhymes. It turns out this pop sensation is more than just cougar bait, after all!
