If you were hoping for a Justin Bieber sex tape, get ready to be disappointed!
The 18-year-old pop star convinced the world that his laptop had been stolen this week and that an unidentified thief was threatening to leak his private videos on Twitter. But the so-called "personal footage" has just been released -- and it turns out all the hype was just The Biebs' creative way of debuting the new music video for his Nicki Minaj collaboration "Beauty and the Beat."
The publicity stunt had a lot of set up, and we've got to hand it to Bieber for pulling it off. Though we did start to suspect when he went Twitter crazy promoting the scandal. (Plus, we already knew from watching MTV's Punk'd that the man does love a good prank!)
The supposed thief promised to release the footage at noon -- and when the clock struck 12, @gexwy posted a link to the video. "I told you I would post something WORTH watching and talking about @justinbieber @NICKIMINAJ," he wrote.
Whether you believed the stunt or not, it was a pretty revolutionary way to release a video!
Bieber then explained his motives behind the prank via his own Twitter account: "Since i was 14 i have had a lot of things said about me, from dying, to taking hormones, to dying again, to stuff about my family, to saying i had a baby with a woman i never even met. nude pics, drugs, my family, my character...but today...today i get to be in on it..."
Bieber does have a point there. Celebrities put up with a lot of privacy infringements, so it's kind of fun to see him getting the last laugh. Plus, the video itself is pretty awesome. Way to go, Biebs!
