Justin Bieber has been thinking a lot about his own life lately, announcing deals this week to release a self-themed book in the fall and an unrelated autobiographical concert film next Valentine's Day.
The book, "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story," (a title that sounds like it was generated by a committee of Bieber, his publicist and his search engine specialist) is not a memoir -- or so tweeteth the Moppy-Headed One. "We can all agree im a little too young to write a memoir," Bieber posted on Twitter on Tuesday. "I just got a lot more life to live too :)".
While it's easy to poke fun at a 16-year-old looking back wistfully on his life -- or at least one of his concert tours -- there's no doubt the book will be a hit, selling much better than a hypothetical autobiography of someone much older and more experienced... say, Snooki.
Against my snarkier judgement, I say: More power to him.
It's nice to see a young star getting attention for writing (or at least releasing) a book, versus taking sexy photographs, getting arrested or robbing another star's house.
And I'll get behind anything that encourages tweens to read from a paper page and not a puny screen. Bieber promises plenty of behind-the-scenes photos, but chances are good there'll be quite a few words as well... there are certainly enough in the title alone!
So to all you Bieber snickerers, ask yourself this: What have you been up to lately? Or in the Bieber language: Where are you on the path 2 forever?
Is it fair to make fun of Justin Bieber? Chime in now!
