Justin Bieber's Mom Pattie Mallette: "I Love Selena Gomez"

The pop star's mom approves of his famous girlfriend: "They're good together. They're adorable."

Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, has gone through some serious turmoil in her life -- but she's hoping to protect her son from having similar experiences. Like most moms, Mallette, who penned the memoir Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom, wants her 18-year-old son to learn from her past and not repeat her mistakes.

"I've been through so much pain in my life that I've just always taught him don't learn the hard way," Mallette told Us Weekly. "Learn from my mistakes."

Bieber's mama has already opened up about not only getting pregnant at age 17 but about also being the victim of sexual abuse.

"My parents split at an early age . . . then I started getting sexually abused starting at age 4. And there was some ongoing abuse up until I was about 10 years old," Bieber's mother explained. "It really skewed my view of men, sex . . . everything pure."

Even though Mallette doesn't regret having her son as a teenager, she does hope Bieber realizes that he needs to take romance slowly. The bright side, Mallette says, is that she absolutely adores Bieber's girlfriend of nearly two years, Selena Gomez, 20.

"I love Selena. She's a sweetheart," Mallette told Us. "What you see is how she is. She's good for him. They're good together. They're adorable."
