When Justin Timberlake actually showed up to be the date of Marine combat instructor Cpl. Kelsey DeSantis for Saturday's Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, Va., it goes without saying that it ended up being one of the most "wonderful" nights of DeSantis' life.
On Tuesday's Today show, the 23-year-old -- who asked Timberlake to the event via a YouTube video in July, after his Friends With Benefits costar Mila Kunis accepted a similar invitation -- opened up about her fun-filled evening in with her chivalrous A-list date.
"You could see he genuinely cared about what he saw," she said. "He had a really big smile on his face, and so did I." Watch the interview below!
Unsurprisingly, DeSantis gushed about how dancing with the 30-year-old "Sexy Back" singer was unforgettable. "The whole night was extremely... bringing sexy back, I guess you could say," DeSantis said, smiling. "We were on the dance floor and had a good time at the table joking and laughing, so it was altogether really great."
Timberlake took to his blog on Sunday afternoon to share his thoughts on the Marine Corps Ball, admitting that he didn't realize beforehand just how moved he would be by "the whole experience."
"I've met so many of my heroes -- from Michael Jordan to Michael Jackson -- and nothing makes me feel more honor and pride than when I get to meet one of you," Timberlake wrote, referring to those who serve in our armed forces. "Last night changed my life and I will never forget it."
DeSantis agreed with Justin 100 percent. "If you haven't been (to a Marine Corps Ball), it's something that's hard to put in words," she said. "But I was most honored that he said the things that he did in his blog."
Those "things" included a gushing tribute to DeSantis herself. "I have to tell you, it's not every day that I meet a 23 year old girl and she's more worried about if I'm having fun or if I'm comfortable!" Timberlake wrote. "It hit me all of a sudden that these were the type of people that look after us and our freedom... Humble, concerned for others before themselves... This was the type of person our Marine Corps was building. I was really blown away."
Timberlake signed off with a simple but touching message for his date. "Thank you Corporal Kelsey DeSantis," he wrote. "Thank you for inviting me. And, thank you for being my hero."
Hopefully Kunis has a similarly great experience when she attends her own Marine Corps Ball with Sgt. Scott Moore in North Carolina this Friday!
