Would his Grammy Awards performance be sexier than his "Suit & Tie" lyric video? Include new music? Feature Jay-Z? It turns out it did all of the above -- plus have a definite cool factor thanks to its retro flavor.
Sepia tones aren't just for Instagram anymore! Justin kicked off his first Grammy performance in four years with a two-toned intro. The cool effect locked in that suave vibe J.T. has been aiming for ever since he started promoting The 20/20 Experience and launched the black-and-white "Suit & Tie" lyric video. After a few seconds, we were already hooked.
And goodness but was Timberlake's entire performance classy. He, of course, wore a Tom Ford suit as he took to the stage with a full orchestral band. That's right, there was a full band on stage at the Grammys, and it was amazing. Timberlake and Jay-Z brought down the house with "Suit & Tie," but it was Timberlake's next song that proved he had truly returned.
Timberlake had already introduced dedicated fans to "Pusher Love Girl" at a pre-Super Bowl concert, but audiences across the nation came to know the new song very well thanks to this flawless performance. With the return of his falsetto, Timberlake brought the Staples Center audience to its feet.
So is Justin Timberlake officially back? You betcha, and he's better than ever. Timberlake's big return to the Grammys was well worth the wait, and we're dying to hear the rest of what he's got in store for us when The 20/20 Experience hits stores and iTunes on March 19.
