Who's mouth wasn't agape when Kanye West jumped up on stage in the middle of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech and took her microphone?
Interrupting Taylor's speech, after she picked up the moon man for best female video, Kanye swiped the mic and told the audience that fellow-nominee Beyonce should have won, because she had "one of the greatest videos of all time," in "Single Ladies."
"I was standing on stage, and I was really excited because I'd just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage," Taylor said after the show. "And then I wasn't excited anymore after that."
Poor Taylor just looked stunned — and heartbroken – as her moment was hijacked. When Kanye left the stage, the audience gave Taylor a standing ovation and proceeded to boo the rapper anytime his name was mentioned for the rest of the night.
Making it right, when B won her award for video of the year, she called Taylor to the stage and let the young country star finish her speech. "This is amazing," Beyonce said. "I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
It was touching, classy, and so the right thing to do.
Twitter, Facebook, and the internet were on fire after Kanye's despicable act, with tons of messages in support of Taylor.
Pink, who was also nominated for best female video, Tweeted, “Kanye west is the biggest piece of sh*t on earth. Quote me.”
When asked if she had any hard feelings about the night, Taylor was the ultimate lady. I don't want to start anything," she told People.com. "I had a great day tonight. I've been sent so many text messages and everyone's been really nice. I've had a really, really fun night."
There was so much VMA drama! What was your favorite part of the show?
