Gossip columnists are about to feast on two high-profile celebrity divorces -- within the same family. After months of rumors (and a year-long secret separation) Bruce and Kris Jenner are officially splitting. And while Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian have yet to send a "we're divorcing" memo to Us Weekly, their own announcement appears to be forthcoming.
Now comes the potentially ugly part: dividing the assets. While the Jenner divorce is amicable and mutually agreed upon, and the Odom split is wrought with issues of infidelity and drug abuse, the legal wrangling may actually be much worse for the Jenners.
How can that be? "Kris demanded that Kim and Khloe get prenups," a source told Radar Online. "But in a touch of irony, she didn’t get one when she married Bruce."
That means that Khloe's own fortune, which the magazine approximates at $18 million, is protected, and she'll probably be entitled to at least half of Odom's worth (approximated at $56 million). According to the source, the prenuptial agreement included a cheating clause: "Lamar would have to shell out $500,000 for each year they were wed, as well as advances for spousal support and shopping." And this girl can shop.
Meanwhile, there's no legal document to sort out who gets what part of the Jenners' $125 million fortune. How much of this did Kris earn through her Kardashian momager role and TV contracts, and how much is left over from Bruce's extremely lucrative endorsement deals? (Remember him on the Wheaties box?) Those details aren't publicly known. Ah, but they will be soon enough if proceedings turn nasty.
Is that why Khloe has been delaying her own divorce proceedings? Is she waiting for her mother to sort out her own split? Radar thinks not.
Anyway, it's probably best to space out their divorces. Kardashian fans are used to drama, but even for this family, that's a lot to handle in one week.
