A few weeks ago it was reported that two of the Gosselin children were expelled from their Pennsylvania school. But now mom Kate Gosselin is putting a different spin on it.
Gosselin initially described the issue as a "private matter," but the 35-year-old reality TV mom has broken her silence. Gosselin dished to People about the removal of her son Collin and daughter Alexis, both 6, from their school.
"The school would never use that word," Gosselin explains. "They were not expelled. (The school) did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now."
Now, two of the Gosselin sextuplets are being home schooled. Their mom went on to reveal both children are receiving "identical curriculum" from a private tutor.
The kids' school troubles may have something to do with the changes in their home life over the past year. Gosselin acknowledges that her divorce last year from Jon Gosselin has had an impact on her kids, particularly Collin and Alexis.
"They've been the ones to verbalize the most that they miss Daddy," Gosselin says. "I could see that they're the ones struggling the most."
While Gosselin assures that Collin and Alexis are now "doing much, much better" because they are seeing a therapist, she confesses the young children's anger about their parents parting ways crept up in school.
"(Collin) was upset and saying things out of frustration -- he'd crumple his papers and throw them on the floor," she says. "Alexis was angry in a different way. She didn't want to sit still. She'd get up and want to run around."
Nevertheless, the Kate Plus 8 star seems undeterred by the setback. "I am doing what my kids need me to do," she says. "That's really all that matters."
