They're both famous moms with their own reality shows. They're both tabloid fixtures. And people either really love them or really hate them. In fact, Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin have so much in common they almost seemed destined to be pals. Almost.
US Weekly reports that when Gosselin, 35, and her eight kids joined forces with Palin, 46, and her clan to go camping for an episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska there was "zero chemistry" between the two women.
"They didn't speak off camera," a source spills to the magazine. The source reveals that the Kate Plus 8 matriarch had an especially bad time. "She said the food and accommodations were terrible, and it was the worst trip she'd ever been on." (Watch a preview of their dual family outting below.)
While Gosselin's kids enjoyed themselves on the trip (spending time fishing and hunting for firewood), their mom couldn't get on board.
In fact, Gosselin hated roughing it in the cold weather so much she "had a meltdown. She just couldn't cope." And, with that, Gosselin packed up her children and "left the campground before sundown."
But it seems TLC is ready to cash in on their stars awkward encounter. In the show's preview, Gosselin is seen gasping during a bear safety class, complaining that she's freezing and later crying, "I'm hungry!"
Meanwhile, Palin is shown holding a gun and talking about how she is going to protect the Gosselin gang. But she sounds exhausted by Kate's complaints, as she tells the camera, "Come on, it wasn't that bad!"
The episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska featuring Kate Gosselin's failed camping trip airs Sunday, Dec. 12 at 9 p.m. on TLC. Watch a preview of the episode here.
