Not everyone is thrilled about Kate Gosselin’s upcoming show, Twist of Kate, an upcoming TLC reality series that will feature the mom of eight using "letters from women inspired by her story as the basis for profiles of women facing their own challenges.”
Among iVillage readers, the announcement has stirred up a heated debate about whether Gosselin, 35, who’s still doing her fancy footwork on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, should even be taking on a new show. "How much money does this woman need?” writes plebmom. “I mean, really, even if she was plowing through $100,000 a year (which is a very comfortable income even with 8 kids) -- this year she is going to be making around a half a million dollars easy... again, how much money do you need?"
Another reader feels that Gosselin shouldn’t be focusing her energy on other people when she’s got eight children at home who need her attention. "Tell me this...how will she go ‘help’ others and walk in their shoes when she should be doing all she can for her own kids," says memeu2. It begs the question whether viewers will tune in for a sans kids Kate.
Gosselin is in the midst of her own heated battle with husband Jon, who has sued her for primary physical custody of their children after calling Kate an “absentee mom.” Kate’s response to her ex’s allegations? "I am and always will be a mother first, but as a single working mom I will do everything necessary to provide for my kids despite the opinions of others." In an iVillage Flash Poll, 74 percent of readers feel that Kate should be the primary caretaker of her children. “I would not let him watch my dog!!!” exclaimed one.
