Kate Gosselin may not be a professional model, but she looked pretty darn close to the real thing when she strutted her stuff on the on the runway as part of New York Fashion Week.
The single mother of eight made her NYFW debut at the "Real Fashion, Real Women" runway show held at the Empire Hotel on September 12. The fashion show benefited the charity Bottomless Closet, an organization which helps disadvantaged women become self-sufficient. Gosselin walked the runway in a flowing white one-shoulder dress with her blonde hair hanging loose around her shoulders.
"I'm SUPER excited 2 b a part of the Real Women/Real Fashion Show today! I love supporting causes that make a huge difference in womens lives!" she tweeted prior to making her first Fashion Week appearance.
In addition to Gosselin, the show featured 21 "real women" and four other celebrity models including Real Housewives of New York City star Aviva Drescher.
Huffington Post caught up with the show's host and organizer, Derek Warburton, who had nothing but kind things to say about Gosselin. He called her "so nice, sweet and accommodating and cool," but admitted that there was a lot of backlash when it leaked that she would be modeling.
"We have all been in Twitter wars about Kate," Warburton said. "They were attacking us for having her in the show. I responded saying, 'Listen, we are not paying her. She is doing this out of the goodness of her heart.' What's remarkable is every time we get a nasty tweet about Kate, she writes and apologizes. She doesn't care about the haters, but she cares about us, the charity. She must have apologized to me five times for what people say about her."
Gosselin might have made a quick NYFW visit for the sake of charity, but last we heard she was still busy shopping around a new reality series. The Coupon Cabin blogger has a series called The One that follows Gosselin on her search for a new man. She and ex-husband Jon split in 2009. According to Gosselin, she's trying to get a new show for the sake of her kids.
"They really honestly miss filming," Gosselin told Ann Curry. "They've been saying, 'When are we going to go here or there? We miss the crew.'"
