Kate Winslet's ex-husband, director Sam Mendes, is finally going public with his new leading lady, actress Rebecca Hall.
"It's true they are in a relationship," a rep for Mendes confirmed to the Daily Mail.
When the Academy Award-winning duo announced their split in March 2010, the Daily Mail speculated that Hall, best known for her roles in The Town and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, was the "other woman." But his rep insists the gossip was "utter nonsense...untrue and ridiculous."
Mendes, 46, and Hall, 29, first met in 2006 when he produced Starter for Ten, the British comedy she starred in opposite James McAvoy. Three years later, they spent the year preceding Mendes' divorce working on a London and New York production of the plays The Cherry Orchard and A Winter’s Tale.
At the time, a source close to Winslet told the Daily Mail: "When Kate found out that Sam had grown close to Rebecca she was upset. Rebecca is totally Sam's type -- a thespian mix of brains and beauty."
Whether Hall and Mendes started their relationship while he was still married to Winslet or not, it's clear they've been close for a long time -- and that the director has an eye for gorgeous actresses.
