Smash was cancelled this spring, but the drama continues for Katharine McPhee! The star of the musical drama, who is married to producer Nick Cokas, was caught by paparazzi on Sunday kissing former Smash director Michael Morris. Morris is also married, to actress Mary McCormack. As you can imagine, this is getting messy.
McPhee, 29, was apparently the free agent in this equation. According to reports, she and Cokas, 47, have been separated for months. Morris, on the other hand, has three young daughters with McCormack -- who was very unhappy about those pictures.
“Mary threw Michael out of the house on Sunday night when he told her that TMZ had the photos and that they were about to be released,” a source told Page Six.
Reportedly, Morris is trying to save his marriage, but McCormack says it's "over." Meanwhile, McPhee, who had a lot less to lose, is reportedly "SO embarrassed she was caught." Come on -- she was kissing him in a public parking lot in broad daylight! Of course they were caught.
The former Smash colleagues aren't the first famous couple to have their affair exposed on camera, and they probably won't be the last. Here are 3 other indiscretions captured by paparazzi -- and what happened afterwards.
Kristen Stewart & Rupert Sanders
In July 2012, Stewart cheated on longtime boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director. Her "momentary indiscretion," as she called it in a public apology, was snapped by a paparazzo and published on the front page of Us Weekly.
Fallout: Stewart's popularity took a major hit, though she and Pattinson stuck it out until May 2013. Sanders' wife Liberty Ross filed for divorce in January 2013.
Sarah, Duchess of York & John Bryan
Sarah Ferguson was still married to Prince Andrew when the Daily Mirror published paparazzi photos of the duchess sunbathing topless while her "financial advisor" kissed her toes. Even though Fergie and Andrew had been separated for five months, the pictures caused a major scandal.
Fallout: Fergie has been persona non grata in the royal family ever since the 1992 incident. She wasn't even invited to Prince William's wedding, although her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie have been welcomed into the fold.
Sienna Miller & Balthazar Getty
Getty had been married to fashion designer Rosetta Millington for eight years, but that didn't stop him from parading around Italy with Miller in July 2008. Pictures of the the sexy vacation were published everywhere; Sienna is topless in most of them.
Fallout: Getty's wife left him, and he continued to date Miller until May 2009. Surprisingly, Balthazar and Rosetta reconciled in 2010, and the family (which includes four children) is back together.
