Finally -- a Best Director Oscar is won by a female director! Bigelow took home the golden statue for The Hurt Locker, a drama which her fellow nominee, ex-husband James Cameron, told her she had to make. Barbra Streisand proudly bestowed the historic Academy Award on Bigelow, who thanked the brave soldiers who served as an inspiration for her war film, which picked up six golden trophies.
