Kathy Smith’s Latin Rhythm Workout is a bit of a production, with a live band and a core group of dancers, but a high intensity production at that. The main element missing is a solid introduction process—unless you have a natural knack for Latin style dancing, you might find yourself focusing on the steps rather than building your heart rate.
The DVD is pretty basic, with a brief warm-up, and segments covering the samba, cha-cha and merengue.
Highlights: A fast-paced workout with an energetic and engaging cast.
Downside: Little easing in; if you’re unsure of the steps, you may not get the exercise you’re looking for. The moves themselves aren’t challenging so you’ll need to throw yourself into the routine.
