What kind of party do you throw for the little girl who has everything -- and who wears high heels to Starbucks? That's the challenge facing Katie Holmes as she plans a birthday party for her daughter Suri, who turns 5 on April 18. But rather than renting out the Plaza and stocking it with ponies, Holmes is taking a surprisingly low-key approach to the kindergarten bash.
"She wants a piñata and her girlfriends to come over for some swimming," Holmes told Ryan Seacrest on his Monday radio show. "We're going to make a cake together."
That is not to say that Katie and Tom are downplaying the celebration.
"This is my favorite day of the year," Suri's mama gushed. "So we're gonna have a little tea party. I kinda like to girl it up."
So will daddy Tom Cruise take part in the tea party? We're having fun imagining him with a flowered hat and a feather boa, eating scones with 5-year-old girls. (One thing that probably won't be on the menu? Gummy "boy part" candy.)
Holmes is starring in the controversial miniseries The Kennedys, which will continue all week on ReelzChannel. Cruise recently signed on for the movie musical Rock of Ages -- and Holmes assures Seacrest that his singing and dancing skills are "fantastic." Perhaps he can provide the entertainment at Suri's soiree?
