No, he never once mentioned her surprise divorce from Tom Cruise, but he did get her to answer what we all desperately want to know: When is there going to be a Dawson's Creek reunion?
"I love everyone from the show, and we have kind of talked about it here and there. But what do you do?" Holmes says in response. "Michelle's character passed away...Our last episode, we were already five years older. Maybe we'll go on vacation, that will be fun -- and just film it!"
Considering the show went off the air in 2003 (nine years ago, for those of you keeping count), we don't think that five-year jump would be much of a hurdle to cross. This vacation idea has us interested though, and maybe the cast can work Michelle Williams' character back in as a ghost. (Hey, it worked on Grey's Anatomy!)
While we were busy pondering the return of Joey Potter, Holmes, 33, had already moved on to the second most important part of the interview: Her epic game of "Charades" against Fallon.
Holmes had some trouble getting her partner to figure out "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," though at least she did get to punch Fallon as one of her motions for "hit." Fallon's teammate easily answered Home Alone, but it was the final showdown that was the most intense. Fallon gave the correct answer, So You Think You Can Dance, which is impressive considering Holmes was the one who performed on the show. Maybe she was still focused on Dawson's Creek, too.
