Katy Perry is still not ready to trade her teenage dream for motherhood. The singer, who has been married to Russell Brand for just more than one year, became the subject of fresh pregnancy rumors after her belly showed a teensy bit of bulge at the American Music Awards. But when gossip website Hollyscoop asked her point-blank, they received a definitive "Hell no!" from the pop star.
As for her fluctuating weight, Perry says there's an easy explanation: "I like In-N-Out burger and Taco Bell. If you want to make that pregnant then that's your problem." She also opened up to The Insider at the AMAs and gave another reason why she's waiting to have kids: "I still like drinking alcohol."
The pregnancy rumors aren't completely out of nowhere, as Perry has given several interviews lately where she said she'd love to have kids. In the October issue of InStyle, Perry, 26, talked about how she'd have a "more open approach" to raising children than her own parents. Admittedly, she did say that motherhood was in "the very far future" for her. But then in November, Perry told Ellen DeGeneres that she "would love to have children" and that she considers having kids "one of the reasons you get married." She also said she was open to more than one, exclaiming, "If it doesn't hurt the first time, I'll keep popping them out!"
Perry may not yet be ready to trade her eye-popping dresses for maternity wear, but the baby buzz doesn't seem to bother her. In fact, she seems to be having some fun with it. At a Madison Square Garden concert last week, she joked that she was bloated from too much New York City pizza, saying, "Don’t you hate it when you eat too much pizza and everyone’s patting your stomach and saying things like 'Is it a boy or a girl' and then you’re like, 'B**** please, it’s a ham and pineapple pizza!'"
Then on Monday, Perry teased fans by tweeting, "I have a HUGE announcement that I can finally tell u (I've had to keep it a secret 4ever!) U ready?!?!" The mysterious message was retweeted over a hundred times before she unveiled the big news: she'll be hosting Saturday Night Live in December! Maybe Stefon can recommend some hot spots for Perry to hit while she can still drink?
