It all begins with Perry finishing her "California Gurls" video shoot and then walking to her dressing room, where all of a sudden she's transported to her very own Wonderland, where she encounters herself as a little girl. Hand-in-hand, Perry and her younger alter ego wander around overcoming various obstacles including the paparazzi.
"I wish I knew then, what I know now," Perry, 27, sings in the chorus.
In one sequence, Perry and her young companion meet Prince Charming, who seems handsome and winning on his horse but is revealed to be crossing his fingers behind his back. But instead of falling into his arms, Perry punches him square in the face, knocking the phony out cold.
"It's kind of like the labyrinth of my life in the last two years," Perry told MTV about the video. "I just wanted to tell a story about myself kind of going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of a maze. There's good parts and bad parts."
Could the "bad" prince be a thinly veiled reference to her ex-husband Russell Brand? Seems pretty obvious her short-lived marriage could qualify as a "bad part" of her life.
