Katy Perry Made Russell Brand Wait for Sex

British comedian Russell Brand had a reputation as a serial womanizer, that is, until pop star Katy Perry set him straight. In a new interview with Esquire UK, the "California Gurls" singer reveals how she reformed her fiance -- by making him wait to have sex!

Perry, 25, reveals that she refused to give in to Brand's advances when they first met on the set of Get Him to the Greek. Her cameo in the film involved a make-out scene with Brand -- but when he asked her to have sex with him after the shoot was over, Perry responded by throwing a plastic water bottle at his head. "Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted?" Perry tells the magazine. "I was like, 'You've met your match.'"

When Brand, 35, was reunited with Perry at the MTV VMAs, she insisted that he take her on a real date before getting physical. One week later, they were in Thailand together -- and in less than four months, the unlikely couple was engaged.

"He basically used to be a professional prostitute and now he's not," Perry says of Brand, who has admitted to bedding dozens of women a month. "So he's an extremist, which can be both good and bad."

Brand's extremism extended to his flamboyant marriage proposal, which Katy describes for the first time in the interview. When the two were vacationing in India, Russell donned a turban and got down on one knee. After she said yes, "we got into a horse and carriage which took us to this tent made out of tens of thousands of roses. Inside there was a stage show featuring dancers. Just before midnight, an elephant turned up. A painted elephant. We rode to another part of the hotel and watched the fireworks."

Sounds like a relationship that was worth the wait. And speaking of waiting -- if Brand goes that all-out for the proposal, we can't wait to see what they do for the wedding!
