WATCH: Katy Perry Pokes Fun At 'Sesame Street' Controversy On 'SNL'!

Wearing a low-cut Elmo T-shirt, the singer plays being cut by the PBS show for laughs

Katy Perry made a boob out of herself this weekend. The singer, whose segment with Elmo on Sesame Street was cut when some parents thought the pop star was showing far too much cleavage on the children's program, opted to make light of the rather silly situation.

Perry, 25, tweeted after PBS didn't air her "Hot and Cold" duet with Elmo, "Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at Tag you're it, Elmo!"

But, it seems she was still hoping to get the last laugh in the matter. Perry, who was the musical guest in the 36th season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend, appeared in a skit which not-so-subtly pointed out which assets got her into trouble in the first place.

In a sketch called "Bronx Beat," Perry played a teen named Maureen who stops by to talk with the hosts (played by host Amy Poehler and guest star/fellow returning cast member Maya Rudolph) about the "hullabaloo" surrounding her volunteering to read books to children at the local library.

Wearing a very low-cut Elmo shirt, a bouncy Perry, alongside Poehler and Rudolph poke fun at the scandalous appearance (watch the video below for the entire skit!). At one point in the segment, Poehler (who has appeared on Sesame Street herself) cracked, "Looks like today's show is brought to you by the number 38 and the letter double D!"

Of course, Perry's fiance, Russell Brand came up with a similar quip from his Twitter a few days prior when he posted, "@katyperry today's Sesame Street will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D."

But, the SNL gals continued to have fun with the controversy during the sketch and it wasn't hard to tell whose side they were on. Rudolph's character gripes, "Boobs feed babies, alright? I turn on CSI the other night and there's a dead guy with a worm in his eye, but we can't look at the tops of boobs?! So dumb, America!"
